Solutions to common issues when using Loclie.


Account Issues

Can't Log In

Possible causes:

  • Incorrect email or password
  • Caps lock is on
  • Account doesn't exist
  • Sign-in page appears stuck or unresponsive

Solutions:

  1. Double-check your email address
  2. Verify caps lock is off
  3. Try password reset using the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in form
  4. If the sign-in appears stuck on a loading spinner, try refreshing the page (Loclie will show a prompt if this is detected)
  5. Make sure you have an account -- if not, click "Sign up" to create one

Password Reset Code Not Received

Check:

  1. Spam/junk folder
  2. Promotions tab (Gmail)
  3. Correct email address entered

Try:

  • Wait 5-10 minutes
  • Check all email folders
  • Request another reset code
  • Contact support using the help icon (question mark) in the header if still not received

Account Verification Code Not Received

Solutions:

  1. Check spam folder
  2. Wait a few minutes
  3. Request a new verification code from the sign-up form
  4. Use the help icon (question mark) in the header in the app to contact support

Search & Navigation

Search Not Working

Try:

  1. Check spelling of search terms
  2. Use simpler keywords
  3. Clear search and try again
  4. Refresh the page
  5. Try the Ask Bar instead

No Results Found

Possible reasons:

  • Too specific search terms
  • Wrong town selected
  • Filters too restrictive

Solutions:

  1. Use broader search terms
  2. Check your selected town
  3. Remove or adjust filters
  4. Browse categories instead

Page Not Loading

Try:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Check internet connection
  3. Clear browser cache
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Check if Loclie is down (rare)

Location Issues

Location Not Detected

Check:

  1. Browser location permissions
  2. Device location services
  3. HTTPS connection (required)

Enable location:

  • Browser: Settings → Privacy → Location
  • Allow for Loclie site
  • Refresh page

Wrong Location Showing

Solutions:

  1. Manually select your town using the town selector
  2. Check location permissions in your browser
  3. Set your home town from your Dashboard Profile page by clicking "Set as Home"
  4. Refresh the page to re-detect your location

Voice Search Issues

Voice Search Not Working

Requirements:

  • Modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge)
  • Microphone permissions enabled
  • Quiet environment

Check:

  1. Click microphone icon
  2. Allow microphone when prompted
  3. Speak clearly after activation
  4. Wait for listening indicator

Browser settings:

  • Settings → Privacy → Microphone
  • Allow for Loclie

Voice Not Recognized

Tips:

  1. Speak clearly and slowly
  2. Reduce background noise
  3. Hold device closer
  4. Try shorter phrases
  5. Use text search as alternative

Business Owner Issues

Can't Claim Business

Possible reasons:

  • Business already claimed by another user
  • Account not signed in
  • Claim is pending review

Solutions:

  1. Go to the Manage portal and click "Add Business" to start the claiming flow
  2. Ensure you're signed in
  3. If the business is already claimed, contact support via the help icon (question mark) in the header on app.loclie.com.au for disputed claims
  4. Check your Dashboard for the status of any pending claims. Once approved, manage your listing on the Manage portal

Business Edits Not Saving

Try:

  1. Ensure all required fields filled
  2. Click "Save" button
  3. Check for error messages
  4. Refresh and try again
  5. Use a different browser

Photos Not Uploading

Check:

  • Original file size under 50MB (images are automatically compressed)
  • Format: JPG, PNG, or WebP
  • Good internet connection

Try:

  • Use the built-in crop tool to adjust your image
  • Try a smaller or different image
  • Try a different browser

Event Issues

Can't Create Event

Requirements:

  • Logged into Loclie account
  • All required fields filled

Check:

  1. You're signed in
  2. Event title is filled
  3. Date and time are set
  4. Location is selected

Event Not Showing

Possible reasons:

  • Event date has passed
  • Wrong town selected
  • Event not yet approved

Solutions:

  1. Check the event date
  2. Select correct town
  3. Wait for approval (if applicable)
  4. Check your Event Dashboard on the Manage portal

Job Application Issues

Can't Apply for Jobs

Requirements:

  • Logged into Loclie account

Check:

  1. You're signed in
  2. Job is still open
  3. All required fields filled

Application Status Not Updating

Note: Status updates depend on the business reviewing applications. Be patient.

Check:

  • View your Applications page from your Dashboard
  • Status starts as "Submitted" and progresses through stages like "Under Review", "Shortlisted", "Interviewed", "Offered", "Accepted", "Rejected", or "Withdrawn"
  • A "Viewed" badge appears when the business has opened your application
  • A "New" badge shows when the business has not yet viewed it

Browser Issues

Site Looks Wrong

Solutions:

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Disable browser extensions
  3. Try incognito/private mode
  4. Try different browser
  5. Update your browser

Features Not Working

Check:

  1. JavaScript is enabled
  2. Browser is updated
  3. No conflicting extensions

Try:

  • Different browser
  • Incognito mode
  • Clear cache and cookies

Attraction Issues

Attractions Not Showing

Possible reasons:

  • Wrong town selected -- attractions are shown for your selected town and area
  • No attractions have been added for that town yet

Solutions:

  1. Check your selected town is correct
  2. Try switching to area-wide view to see attractions from nearby towns
  3. Use the Ask Bar to search for specific attraction types (e.g., "parks near me", "walking trails")

Note: Parks and playgrounds are classified as attractions, not amenities. If you are looking for parks, check the Attractions page rather than the Amenities page.


Attraction Details Missing

Why this happens:

  • Attraction data is sourced from OpenStreetMap and may have limited descriptions
  • Some attractions may not have images yet

Try:

  • Use the Ask Bar for more context about the attraction
  • Check the map view for the attraction's exact location

Display Issues on Older iPhones

Glassmorphism Effects Not Showing

Why this happens: On older iPhones (screen height 736px or less), Loclie automatically disables the backdrop-blur glass effects to prevent Safari from crashing. You will see solid white backgrounds instead of the translucent glass effect.

This is expected behaviour -- it is a performance safeguard, not a bug. The app remains fully functional with the solid fallback backgrounds.


Mobile Issues

Not Loading on Mobile

Try:

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Clear browser cache
  4. Try different browser
  5. Restart your device

Buttons Not Responding

Solutions:

  1. Wait for page to fully load
  2. Scroll to ensure button is visible
  3. Refresh page
  4. Try different browser
  5. Clear browser cache

Common Quick Fixes

  1. Refresh the page (F5 or pull down on mobile)
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try incognito/private mode
  4. Try different browser
  5. Check internet connection
  6. Sign out and back in
  7. Wait and try again later

Include:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • Error messages (if any)
  • Browser and device info

We typically respond within 1-2 business days.
