Delete Account

How to delete your Loclie account and what happens to your data.

How to Delete Your Account

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click "Settings" (or navigate to /dashboard/settings)
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom
  3. Click the "Delete Account" button
  4. A confirmation modal will appear showing what will be deleted
  5. Type DELETE in the confirmation field
  6. Click "Confirm Delete"

Your account is deleted instantly.

This Action is Permanent

Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Make sure you are certain before confirming.

Via Email (Fallback)

If you are unable to access the Settings page:

  1. Send an email to support@loclie.com.au
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include your registered email address in the message
  4. Our team will process your request manually

What Gets Deleted

The confirmation modal shows exactly what will be removed. When you delete your account, the following are permanently removed:

Account information:

  • Your profile (name, email, home town)
  • Account settings and preferences

Personal data:

  • All saved places and favourites
  • Club memberships
  • Event subscriptions
  • Business account links (you lose owner access)
  • QR code scan history

What Doesn't Change

Business listings you claimed:

  • The business remains on Loclie and is still visible on the map
  • It becomes unclaimed (another person can claim it in future)
  • You lose owner access and the ability to edit the listing

Aggregated analytics:

  • Anonymous usage statistics (e.g., "total users") are retained
  • No personal identifiers remain
  • Used for platform statistics only

Before You Delete

Consider Alternatives First

If your concern is:

Privacy concerns

  • Adjust your cookie preferences on the Profile page
  • Review your notification settings on the Settings page

Just need a break

  • Simply stop using Loclie
  • No need to delete
  • Your account stays dormant until you return

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my account back after deletion?

No - deletion is permanent.

To use Loclie again, you would need to create a new account. Previous data cannot be recovered.


Can I use the same email address again?

Yes. After deletion, you can create a new account with the same email address.


How long does deletion take?

Deletion through the Settings page is instant. If you request deletion via email, our team will process it manually.


What if I own a business on Loclie?

Your business listing remains on Loclie but becomes unclaimed. Contact support before deleting if you need to transfer ownership to someone else.

If you are sure about deleting:

  1. Go to Settings and click "Delete Account" in the Danger Zone
  2. Type DELETE and confirm

If reconsidering:

  • Take a break instead - just stop using the app
  • Your account stays dormant until you return
