Getting Started
What is Loclie?
Loclie is a comprehensive local discovery platform that helps you explore businesses, events, jobs, attractions, amenities, clubs, and community groups in regional Australian towns.
Do I need an account to use Loclie?
No! You can browse businesses, events, jobs, attractions, and amenities without an account. However, creating an account allows you to:
- Save favorite places
- Apply for jobs
- Join community clubs
- Create and manage business listings (via the Manage portal)
- Post events (via the Manage portal)
How do I create an account?
- Click the "Sign Up" link on the login page
- Follow the prompts to enter your email and create a password
- Verify your email address using the code sent to your inbox
- You'll be signed in automatically once verified
After signing up, you can add more details (home town, full name) from your Dashboard profile.

Is Loclie available in my area?
Loclie covers around 1,800 regional Australian towns. Your town is detected automatically via geolocation, or you can manually select it using the town selector. If your town isn't listed, let us know through the help icon (question mark) in the header.

How do I search for businesses?
You can search for businesses in several ways:
- Use the Ask Bar on the home page (AI-powered natural language search)
- Use the search/filter bar on the Businesses page for keyword searches
- Browse by category on the Businesses page
- View businesses on the interactive map
- Filter by location, category, or features

How do I save my favorite places?
Click the heart icon on any business, event, attraction, amenity, or town to add it to your favorites. You can view all your saved favorites from your Dashboard under the Favorites section.

What is the Ask Bar?
The Ask Bar is Loclie's AI-powered search feature. Instead of keywords, you can type natural questions like:
- "Where's the best coffee in town?"
- "What events are on this weekend?"
- "Who's hiring for hospitality jobs?"

Can I use voice search?
Yes! Click the microphone icon in the Ask Bar on the home page and speak your query. Voice search uses your browser's built-in speech recognition.

How do I change my home town?
- Go to your Dashboard and tap Profile
- Find the "Home Town" section
- If no home town is set, click "Set as Home" next to your detected location
Your home town determines the default content feed you see. You can switch between your home town feed and your current location feed at any time.

How do I find events?
- Go to the Events page
- Browse by date or category
- Use filters to narrow down results
- Click any event for full details

How do I find jobs?

- Browse available positions
- Filter by type (full-time, part-time, casual)
- Click any job for full details and to apply

How do I join a club?
- Browse the Clubs page
- Find a club you're interested in
- Click "Join Club" (for public clubs) or "Request to Join" (for private clubs)
- Private clubs require approval from the club admin before you gain access

Account & Privacy
How do I reset my password?
- Go to the login page
- Click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in form
- Enter your email address
- Check your email for a verification code
- Enter the code and create a new password
You can also change your password from Settings in your Dashboard under the Security section.

How do I change my email address?
Email changes are managed through your account provider. If you need to update your email address, please contact support using the help icon (question mark) in the header.
How do I delete my account?
- Go to your Dashboard and tap Settings
- Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section at the bottom
- Click "Delete Account"
- Type DELETE in the confirmation field
- Confirm deletion
Account deletion is self-service and instant. All your data (favorites, subscriptions, business accounts, club memberships) is removed immediately.
Warning: This is permanent and cannot be undone.

Is my data private?
Yes! Your personal information is protected:
- Email and phone are never shared publicly
- Favorites are private by default
- Location is only used when you allow it
- We never sell your data

What information does Loclie collect?
Account Information:
- Email address (managed by our authentication provider)
- Full name (optional)
- Home town selection
Usage Information:
- Pages visited
- Search queries (anonymized)
- Favorites and saved places
- Location (only when you allow it)
Does Loclie track my location?
Location tracking is optional and only used when:
- You explicitly allow location access in your browser
- Finding your nearest town
- Showing distance to businesses or events
You can deny location access at any time in your browser settings.
Does the voice search record my voice?
No audio recordings are stored. When using voice search:
- Your voice is converted to text locally in your browser
- Only the converted text is processed for search
- The audio itself is NOT stored or transmitted
For Business Owners
How do I claim my business?
- Go to the Manage portal and click "Add Business"
- Enter your business name -- Loclie will check for existing matches
- If your business is found, select it and choose "Claim"
- Fill out the claim form with your details (including ABN if available)
- Wait for verification (usually 1-3 business days)
- Once approved, manage your listing on the Manage portal

What can I do after claiming my business?
After claiming your business, you can:
- Update business information and hours
- Upload photos
- Post job listings
- Create promotional campaigns
- View analytics and insights

Is there a cost to list my business?
No! Business listings are completely free:
- Claiming is free
- Updating information is free
- Posting jobs is free
- Creating campaigns is free
- Analytics are free
There are no hidden fees or subscriptions.
Can I post job listings?
Yes! After claiming your business:
- Go to your Business Dashboard on the Manage portal
- Navigate to the Jobs section
- Click "Post Job"
- Fill in job details and publish your listing

For Event Organizers
How do I create an event?
- Log into your account
- Go to your Event Dashboard on the Manage portal
- Click "Create Event"
- Fill in event details (title, description, date, location)
- Submit your event

Can I edit an event after it's created?
Yes! Go to your Event Dashboard on the Manage portal and select the event you want to edit. You can update details, add images, or cancel the event if needed.
Can I reschedule events?
Yes! If an event has passed, Loclie will prompt you with two choices: schedule the next occurrence (which automatically marks the event as recurring), or delete the event. You can manage this from your Event Dashboard on the Manage portal.
Technical Questions
What browsers are supported?
Loclie works best on modern browsers:
- Chrome (recommended)
- Firefox
- Safari
- Edge
For the best experience, keep your browser updated.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Use the help icon (question mark) in the header to send a support message. Include:
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- Your browser and device
Why isn't voice search working?
Voice search requires:
- A modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge)
- Microphone permissions enabled
- Quiet environment for best results
Troubleshooting:
- Check browser microphone permissions
- Refresh the page
- Try a different browser
- Speak clearly and wait for the listening indicator

Why can't I see my location?
Location features require:
- Location permissions enabled in browser
- Location services enabled on device
- HTTPS connection (secure site)
Check your settings:
- Browser Settings → Privacy → Location
- Allow location for Loclie
- Refresh the page
Content Types
What are attractions?
Attractions are places you want to visit — parks, walking trails, lookouts, museums, beaches, memorials, public art, and more. Loclie has 77,000+ attraction entries across Australia. Find them under Explore > Attractions in the bottom navigation, or search via the Ask Bar with queries like "Walking trails nearby" or "Things to see in [town]".

What's the difference between a Club and a Group?
Clubs are organized venues with a physical address and opening hours — RSLs, bowling clubs, sporting clubs, surf clubs. They can run campaigns and promotions.
Groups are informal community groups without a fixed venue — book clubs, walking groups, craft groups, gardening clubs. They have discussion boards where members can post and chat.

What's the difference between an Attraction and an Amenity?
Attractions are places you want to visit — parks, trails, lookouts, museums, beaches, memorials.
Amenities are infrastructure you need — toilets, hospitals, police stations, schools, parking, caravan parks.
