Promotions on Loclie are time-limited announcements that help businesses and clubs reach locals and visitors.

Overview

Promotions are part of Loclie's campaign system. Behind the scenes, what users see as "promotions" are campaigns with a specific type. The campaign system supports four types:

Event -- promoting a specific event or happening at your venue
Promotion -- sales, discounts, specials, and limited-time offers
Announcement -- general news and updates about your business or club
Offer -- deals and packages for customers

In user-facing terms, all of these appear as "promotions" or "campaigns" in feeds and search results. They appear in users' feeds during a set display window and are moderated by the Loclie team to maintain quality.

Who Can Create Promotions?

Promotions are available to:

Business owners - Promote your business, share specials, and announce events. See Business Promotions.
Club owners - Promote your club, share upcoming events, and reach locals. The club campaigns interface is being expanded. See Club Promotions.

How Promotions Work

Creating

Sign in to the Manage portal at manage.loclie.com.au
Navigate to your Business Dashboard or Club Dashboard
Click "Promotions" and then "Create Promotion"
Fill in title, description, display window, and optional image
Submit for review

Moderation

All promotions are reviewed by the Loclie team before going live:

Pending - Waiting for review
Approved - Will appear during display window
Rejected - Not approved (reason provided)

Display

Promotions appear in users' feeds during the set display window
They're shown to users browsing the targeted town(s)
Area-wide reach can expand visibility to an entire Local Government Area
Promotions automatically stop showing after their end date

Key Features

Time-Limited Display

Every promotion has a start and end date. It only appears in feeds during this window, keeping content fresh and relevant.

Local Targeting

Promotions are tied to a town. Optionally, you can expand reach to your entire Local Government Area to reach more people.

Optional Event Time

If your promotion advertises something happening at a specific time (e.g., a Friday night special), you can set a separate event time distinct from the display window. This lets you advertise in advance.

Moderation

All promotions are reviewed before going live, ensuring quality content for Loclie users.

Completely Free

Creating promotions costs nothing for business and club owners.

Campaign Metadata

When creating a campaign, you can tag it with additional metadata to help users find relevant content:

Kid-friendly -- suitable for families with children
Has food -- food is available or featured
Live entertainment -- includes live music, performances, or shows
Outdoor -- takes place outdoors
Free -- no cost to attend or participate
Age group -- target audience age range

These tags help the Ask Bar's AI search return more relevant results when users ask questions like "family-friendly events" or "free things to do".

Where Promotions Appear

Promotions appear in:

Town feeds - Users browsing the targeted town see promotions in their feed
Ask Bar results - Relevant promotions may appear in AI-powered search results
Area-wide feeds - If area-wide reach is enabled, promotions appear across the entire Local Government Area
