Send updates and announcements to people following your events.

What Are Event Updates?
Event updates are announcements you can send to people who have subscribed to your event. Use them to:
- Announce changes - Time, location, or format updates
- Share information - Important details attendees should know
- Send alerts - Weather warnings, cancellations
- Build excitement - Reminders and teasers
Update Types
Available Types
When creating an update, select the type that best fits your announcement:
General:
- Standard announcements
- Information sharing
- Regular communications
Schedule Change:
- Time adjustments
- Date changes
- Agenda updates
Venue Change:
- Location changes
- New venue information
- Address updates
Important:
- Critical information
- Urgent announcements
- Must-know details
Cancellation:
- Event cancelled
- Postponement notices
- Refund information
Sending Updates
From Event Dashboard
- Go to Events on the Manage portal
- Find the event you want to update
- Click the Announcements button (bell icon)
- You'll be taken to the Event Updates page
Creating an Update
Step 1: Click "Post New Update"
- Opens the update creation form
Step 2: Select Update Type
- Choose from: General, Schedule Change, Venue Change, Important, or Cancellation
- Helps categorise the update for subscribers
Step 3: Write Title and Message
- Title (required): A short heading for your update (e.g., "Event Time Changed")
- Message (required): The full details of your announcement
Step 4: Post
- Click "Post Update"
- Update is published and subscribers are notified
- You'll see a confirmation message
Who Receives Updates?
Subscribers
Updates are sent to people who have subscribed to your event. Users can subscribe by clicking the "Subscribe for Updates" button on your event's public page.
The updates page shows how many subscribers will receive your update.
How They See Updates
- On the event detail page (updates appear as a chronological list)
- In their notifications
Editing and Deleting Updates
Editing an Update
You can edit updates after posting:
- Find the update in your list
- Click the Edit icon (pencil)
- Modify the title, message, or type
- Click "Save Changes"
Deleting an Update
You can permanently delete updates:
- Find the update in your list
- Click the Delete icon (trash)
- Confirm deletion
Viewing Update History
On the Updates Page
All your past updates are listed under "Previous Updates" with:
- Update type badge (color-coded by type)
- Title and message content
- Date and time when published
- Draft indicator (if not yet published)
- Edit and delete action buttons
Best Practices
DO:
Be timely
- Send updates as soon as changes occur
- Don't leave people guessing
- Give adequate notice
Be clear
- Use a descriptive title
- Include all relevant details in the message
- Specify what action (if any) is needed
Use appropriate types
- Select the right update type
- Helps recipients understand urgency
- Improves communication clarity
Keep it relevant
- Only send necessary updates
- Don't over-communicate
- Respect subscribers' attention
DON'T:
Spam updates
- Quality over quantity
- Only send when needed
- Don't overdo it
Send incomplete information
- Include all details
- Answer likely questions
- Be thorough
Delay important updates
- Cancellations need immediate notice
- Changes should be communicated quickly

Can I edit an update after posting?
Yes. You can edit any update you've posted. Click the edit icon next to the update to modify its title, message, or type.
Can I delete an update?
Yes. You can permanently delete any update by clicking the delete icon and confirming.
How many updates can I send?
There's no strict limit, but be mindful not to spam subscribers.
Can I schedule updates in advance?
Currently, updates are posted immediately. Post them when ready.
Do updates cost anything?
No! Sending updates is completely free.
